On Everybody's Got a Place....

When I first began to write songs for this special musical project, my wonderful sister Jane asked, 'Why not make an album for children and adults from every nation? Create your music for all kinds of people, no matter what their language or the color of their skin, for fast learners and for slow learners like me.'"

"I was touched by Jane’s words and soon after, I followed my heart and wrote the album’s title song, Everybody’s Got a Place. This special song emphasizes likenesses rather than differences, and it sets the tone for the entire album. From this one song, many others flowed. The result is an album, Everybody’s Got a Place which piques the imagination and inspires interaction and creative opportunities for children. With music being the common language for all, this diverse collection of original songs for the entire family reinforces that every being, despite ability and regardless of race, color or creed has value. Peoples of all ages, animals and Nature’s wonders, all have a place and purpose on this earthly planet.

The album’s energy and intergenerational appeal empower young listeners to really "experience" the music and rhythms; each colorful song respects their creative imaginations. Everybody’s Got a Place also encourages parents and grandparents to reach into their own musical experiences and to share in fun-filled family song-and-dance events. I hope this sensitive, heartwarming treasure chest of songs will enlighten, enrich and delight your entire family!"

On Sunny Side Up...

Baltimore singer/songwriter/educator, Pat Lakatta's premiere album, Sunny Side Up, is an imaginative collection of original songs on cassette for children of all ages. The upbeat melodies and lyrics express childhood fun and freshness, providing kids an outlet for self expression.

The album features vocals by Lakatta, assisted by the Sunny Side Up singers, a group of six area children, who add their enthusiasm and spontaneity to the fun. Lakatta says "Their voices really encourage kids who are listening, to jump right in."

Sunny Side Up invites young listeners to play-act and sing along with nine happy songs that celebrate amusing characters, favorite holidays and just being kids. The title song, Sunny Side Up revels in finding a wonderful friend, you! Gypsy Genius encourages children to kick up their heels to its zany rhythm and lyrics.

The album embodies Lakatta's personal musical philosophy: make music for children, not children's music. According to Lakatta, "By creating positive, wholesome, motivational and memorable musical experiences for children, we give them the foundation for life-long appreciation of the joy to be found in music and movement. And the best part is, they have fun doing it."

Over the past 25 years, Pat Lakatta has worked with thousands of children, refining her kid-tested, parent-approved material. She has shared her music with children, parents and teachers in school classrooms, regional children's musical theatre and in Readiness, a program of music and movement she designed. She draws on her own insights as a mom for ideas and inspiration.
